Christmas in Kingston

December 21st, 2008

This weekend, Daniel and I spent time in Kingston to do our Christmas. Since we won’t be together during the holiday, this was our way of celebrating. We met in Kingston during a snowy afternoon. We stayed the night at the Radisson. We went to the mall to do some Christmas shopping, and shopping for Dan’s wardrobe. Dan bought some really cool jeans & shirts for himself. Then we got some gifts for my parents. We didn’t have time to buy for his family, we we had to leave early on Sunday due to snow. :(

After the mall, we went back to the hotel and had our Christmas dinner of sushi, cheeses, a buche de noel and wine!  We opened our gifts to each other. He got me a Blackberry Curve, a Calphalon pot,  and some fuzzy pajamas (plus the hotel room, dinner). I got him Ed Hardy underwear, an Ed Hardy shirt, and Guitar Hero World Tour. We watched part of Home Alone before we fell asleep.

Thank you for a great weekend, Daniel. I appreciate all you did for me!

Doggy…

November 25th, 2008

Things have been a little hectic in the house this week. On Sunday, the doggy arrived from Indianapolis. His name is/was Fuzzy, but we are not sure it fits him. So, we are all trying to figure out a good name for him. He’s only 7 months old, but he’s big!

He’s having a really hard time emotionally. He’s scared of EVERYTHING. He doesn’t want to eat, drink, or go outside much…and he’s just scared of everything! He’s bonded with me pretty well and seems to trust me. He always lets me near him and he snuggles me…he just is having a rough time. He doesn’t like loud noises or tall people up high.

My dad has been babysitting the dog while I am at work. I’m used to emotionally wounded people, but not doggies…So I feel useless. Does anyone have any tricks/suggestions to help him through this? I feel so bad for him.

It’s been a while…

November 11th, 2008

Things have been a little crazy for us lately. The week after we closed on the new house, Dan had to go to Paris again for work. He was planning to go later, but switched it so that he would be here for Thanksgiving….his FIRST American Thanksgiving! :)

He started to build a new fence before he left. When he returns next weekend, he has to finish it before the arrival of our new puppy, on Sunday, the 23rd. :) He also started moving some stuff over to the house.

While he has been gone, I painted the living room and the kitchen. I am planning to move the furniture there this weekend.

Things have been kinda busy and timing has been pretty bad for a lot too! Hopefully we will have a lot of fabulous updates once he gets back!

Boo!

Apple Picking…

October 9th, 2008

Last Saturday, Daniel and I met up with our friend, Michelle, and her daughter, Mya. We went to Beak and Skiff, in Lafayette, NY, to pick some apples. That day, the Empire apples were ready. We have a lot of pictures, but most of them aren’t edited yet off Daniel’s camera. We did have a nice pic of us though, and I thought I would post it. Maybe I can post the others later. It was a nice afternoon of apple picking. Afterwards, we came home to make an apple pie and apple muffins.

We have less than a week to go no the closing of the house at this point. I am excited for Halloween and other Fall events. I think October is my favorite month of the year!

New home!

October 1st, 2008

As of October 15th, this will be our big project for months to come!

Chateau Vaudreuil

September 30th, 2008

This past weekend Daniel says to me, “It’s a surprise day tomorrow”. So, when Saturday morning arrived, we set out, packed up, and went shopping. We mostly bought books (because we’re nerds). We had lunch, walked around downtown Montreal, and got caught up. After all, Daniel was in Paris for 2 weeks and we hadn’t talked much. So we talked abouth is job, his projects, his trip to Paris, the house, etc… I am not sure I did a post on it here, but I FOUND A HOUSE! More on that after the closing, October 15th.

We finally get in the car after shopping and start driving. Daniel says that we have time to kill before the surprise. So he suggested stopping by “my castle”. Everytime I drive to Montreal, there is this big place that attracts me. It looks like a castle and has the most beautiful grounds and lights. He says it is on the way. Maybe we can take some pictures there!

So we arrive and go in to ask if we can take photos. While he asks (and I don’t speak French), I start to wander the halls near the lobby. :) He then comes to tell me we can take pics…but also hands me a room key! SURPRISE!

We are spending the night at Chateau Vaudreuil!!!

We are also having dinner there!

<insert jumping up and down, smiles, and YAY here>

So our night consisted of a walk by the lake, a nap, a champagne bottle being brought to us, a delicious dinner and meeting a new friend who runs the restaurant at the chateau, hanging out in the ridiculously amazing bathtub, the beautiful sleep in that fluffy bed, breakfast in bed, and reluctantly going home.

This is my new favorite place and I am so excited to go back someday!

The staff is very friendly and nice. Quick shout out to Raphael Santarossa, who made our dining experience wonderful! We are happy to have a new friend!

Only 2 days to go

September 24th, 2008

I’ve been working in Paris, France for the last week and a half…. without my baby :-(

Now it’s time for me to go home. Even though i love Paris, and i’m lookingforward to come back, it’s different without her :-(

Hopefully next time she can come :-)

…but this is me, this morning, getting my lunch ready.

This is lovely gazpacho that Daniel’s mom sent me home with.

For a veggie-lover like me, this was heaven.

mmmm.

So sad it is gone already. I can’t wait to make it myself.

I still have carrott cake and white fudge though.

:)

Such sweeties, they are.
